About Nav
Automated evaluations of applications in Nav
To ensure efficient evaluations of applications, Nav will use automated processing for some benefit applications. This means that a decision of whether to grant the application, and if so, to what extent, will be made without a person having been involved.
Contents
Nav uses automated evaluations of applications in some areas concerning:
- child benefit
- child maintenance
- unemployment benefit
- retirement pension
- parental benefit and lump-sum grants
- care benefit
Nav will process your personal data by collecting information from your application and other relevant sources.
When we assess your application, we will check to see if you have any other benefits from Nav for the same time period. The system will then check to see if we have all the information we need to process your application. The application dialogue may request you to submit documentation. If you choose to forward the documentation after submitting the application, your application will not be processed until you have done so.
Once we have all the information we need, your application will be run through a so-called decision management system. The system will check to see whether you meet the criteria for the application, as defined by relevant laws and regulations. The system will then determine whether you qualify for the benefit, and if so, the time period you qualify for the benefit, and create a notice of decision.
If you do not qualify for the benefit, or if your application is not granted, the system will sometimes deny your application, entirely or partly. In other cases, the system will trigger a notice to case workers that the case needs further attention.
We will ensure that all automated decisions are made in accordance with the provisions of the Public Administration Act, to ensure that your rights, freedoms and interests are protected.
- You have the right to have a case worker assess your application.
- You have the right to express your view.
- You have the right to get an explanation for the decision.
- You have the right to object to the processing and to appeal the decision.
You can also contact us if you have any questions or comments.
In addition to the information above, you can also find more information about automated processing in the application dialogue for the application in question.
