What do you do if you are unsure about an SMS or E-mail?
Do not panic. A suspicious SMS or E-mail does not mean that you have been scammed, but that someone may be trying to scam you. You always have time to investigate whether the inquiry is genuine.
- Do not click on links or open attachments.
- Take your time and look carefully at the SMS and E-mail. Check the address in the address bar (the line at the top of the browser) from the sender of the E-mail. Think about whether it might be right, healthy scepticism is never wrong.
- Look at the language. Are there typos or bad language? This may indicate an attempted fraud.
- Does the E-mail or SMS ask you to provide sensitive information such as bank account numbers or security codes? Do not give out information, only share information when you are logged in to nav.no.
- If you are unsure, ask a friend, family member or colleague.
